GPP will encourage all participants to exhibit their images in the annual December GPP exhibit and in other venues, so participants can get feedback and recognition they deserve for their photographic efforts.
GPP is currently investing about 20 hours per month in learning new technology and developing better systems for the workshop or expedition participant to get more out of their workshop or expedition experience. GPP reviews the newest digital technology and recommends what works for the best price, so the participant does not waste their hard earned money on equipment that does work or is not what they need. If you are thinking of purchasing new digital equipment, feel free to contact GPP by e-mail or phone.
Since Global Warming has made some locations weather conditions hard to predict, GPP is working on multiple photographic scenario possibilities. One benefit of Global Warming is extreme weather conditions that can produce dramatic images. The down side is you may not get as many images, however the images you do get may be much better than with normal weather conditions.
The GPP website is being updated with 255 new images in the current location galleries.
GPP’s prices have increased in 2009 to reflect increased costs; GPP’s prices have gone down as photography has moved away from film and gone Digital. With film many workshops could not be done as expeditions, with digital prices have dropped as much as $400.00. However, to keep prices down we must have the support of participants to reach the minimum number of participants needed to continue offer the level of service that GPP is known for. Please commit to and book workshops or expeditions early so GPP will not be forced to cancel if we don’t reach the minimum number of participants needed.
GPP is offering 14 on site workshops or expeditions in 2009.There will be other expeditions to The Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier and the Canadian Rockies
Global Preservation Projects photographic workshops are "hands-on" learning experiences that teach you how to take breathtaking professional photographs. You learn by doing it yourself yet you receive continuous expert guidance throughout the entire workshop. Photographic Expeditions are at a greatly reduced cost, designed for Photographers who do not need the benefit of instruction and are interested photographing unique locations.
GPP workshops feature a heavy emphasis on the use of location lighting techniques like diffusion panels, scrims, reflectors and multiple exposure dusk / dark night shoots. The workshops are held throughout the western United States and Canada in places of natural and/or historical beauty. In places like Bodie participants are allowed access to buildings normally closed to the public.
When you sign up for a GPP workshop, you will receive an extensive, well written handbook you can download from the GPP website that will help you prepare for the workshop. It will also provide you with valuable information that will allow you to expand your knowledge and improve your work after the workshop is over.
At the end of each workshop, the participants evaluate the workshop. The results of those evaluations are used to improve future workshops and changes are made within days after the end of a workshop. GPP's current overall evaluation rating is 93.7%.
